Public Bathrooms

What is up with children loving public bathrooms? I have to fight Sawyer to pee-pee or stinky in our bathroom at home, but as soon as we go to Dalton's basketball game. "I have to go to pee-pee"... and with in 5 minutes, "I have to go stinky". And he is not just saying he has to go, he really goes! I think at the primary school, he likes the small toliets and sinks.

But, today we go to my OB/Gyn... I walk in the bathroom so I can go pee. Well, Sawyer runs to the toliet and says, "I need to pee-pee and stinky". So here we go, on a pubic toliet again, and he does it! And it was not a little stinky but a BIG stinky! What is so appealing about these germ infested places that kids love so much? I just don't know!

The mystery of a kid!

Let me think about it....

This week was the first time I actually had to "pop" Braxton on his little leg. Not that he didn't need it before, but I decided that now he understands me, he needs to suffer the concequences if he does not listen to me.

So anyway, he has this thing about our steps. The thing is, he loves to climb up them! I know, typical for a 15 month old boy, but the problem is, my steps are steep and they are really HARD. So if he fell, he would really get hurt bad. No cushion what so ever! And I am trying to not have to put a gate down there, just because it is a pain in the butt. So anyway, back to my story.... little Braxton, started up the stairs again.

I told him, "Braxton, get down."

Braxton looked at me and smiled and kept going up.

I said, "Braxton I mean it, get down."

He then proceeded to laugh at me and kept going up the steps. (and this was after I had taken him down off the steps 2 times before this particular incident)

At that moment I just knew that he was going to have to get a "pop" on that pretty little bare leg of his! Oh, I promise, it really does hurt me worse then it hurts you Braxton!!!

I went over to the steps, pulled his little sweatpants down and with one hand, I popped that precious skin.

Here goes the meltdown! You would have thought I threw him down the steps. I looked at him with my mean mommy eyes and said, "Now, I mean it when I say get down."

He just looked at me with tears in his eyes... and he seemed to be saying through those pretty blue eyes, "MOM, I can't believe you just did that to me"

I had to hold back the tears from my eyes, and keep those mean mommy eyes on him... even though I wanted to pick him up and kiss his little leg. I had to stick to my guns.

Anyway, I went back to doing what I had been doing before, (laundry, dishes, cleaning, etc.) and things just got so silent. Now that is a rarity around my household. So I went to figure out what was going on. Sawyer was just playing nicely, but Braxton was no where to be found. My first thought was, "NO WAY he went up those stairs again." So I go looking him. He didn't climb the stairs, but he was in my room with the Pillows that he and Sawyer love so much to play with so much. He was layed back and propped up, drinking his milk and he was looking at the ceiling.... like he was so sad that mommy had done that to him. Or, #2, he was thinking that he doesn't want to disappoint me like that anymore. I like the second reason better. But anyway, it was so sweet to see him laying there like that... and amazing that he was quiet and still!!!

Now let's pray he doesn't go up the steps again, so I don't have to pop those pretty little legs!

"MOM, I won't do it again!"

"Tee Tee"

I have always heard that your second one is easier to potty train then the first one, and I think that might be true! Now I am not saying that Braxton is even close to being ready to potty train at 15 months, but it sure is interesting to see how he reacts to Sawyer when he goes to the bathroom. For example: Every morning, I get Braxton up, we go get Sawyer up together and then we go to the boys bathroom. Well, while Sawyer is fighting me saying he does not have to "Pee Pee" even after all night with out going, Braxton runs into the bathroom and climbs up on the stool, lifts the toilet seat up, and looks at me saying, "Teeeee Teeee, Teee, Teeeee". To adorable for words! So I pull his pants down, open his diaper up, and he stands there like he is doing something just like his cool older brother. I have even attempted to turn the bathtub water on to see if it would trigger him to actually pee, but on a trickle has actually come out... and that really scared him! But I always praise him for getting up there, and then of course, Sawyer says he has to pee pee then. He can't be out done by his little BABY brother! Anyway, we will see if I am able to get both of them potty trained by the time the little one comes...... GOOD LUCK HUH????? Well, I am hoping to get a least Sawyer fully potty trained before September. I think that is realistic!!!

PS Sorry for no pictures, I got a new computer and I had to erase all my pictures. So it will be a while before I download some more on this computer. BUT I will!

Green Beans and Ranch

Green Beans and Ranch. Sounds appetizing huh?
Well, that is the way Sawyer wants to eat them. In fact, I sometimes ask, "What do you want for dinner?"
His responds (sometimes), "Green Beans and Ranch."

At least he is eating his veggies huh?

Also, the meals usually consist of a 3 course meal. First the veggies come out... then the cheese/meat/protein... then the fruit. I do this because if I bring out one of the later two before the green beans, the green beans will not get eat!

Braxton is not as fond of Green Beans and Ranch as his brother. He just likes to suck the ranch off his fingers!

Holly Berries

This is a quick post to let all you mother's know that Holly Berries are poisonous. Why do I know? Well, Saturday the family was outside cleaning up the yard. Scott and I had just sat down on the swing, and Sawyer was playing with one of his tractor's and Braxton was playing under the deck and on the other side of the "HOLLY Berry Bush!" I could see his little legs going back and forth behind the bush and normally I go check on the kids when I can't see their WHOLE body. But not this time, I was snuggling with Scott and comfortable on the swing. Then about 3 to 5 minutes later.... here comes little butter bean, with RED JUICE all around his mouth! Talk about freaking out.... I ran over to him, saw he had about 5 or 6 berries in the crease of his jacket and one on his shoulder. I ran inside and called poison control. Not really thinking that it was going to be that bad. Well the calm lady then proceeded to ask me how old he was, how much he weighed... and the real question, "How many holly berries did he eat?" I proceeded to tell her that I did not know, but he had 5 to 7 on his jacket. Then she proceeds to ask me if I had some "Activated Charcoal Powder." Which I didn't. I knew that couldn't be good. She then told me that if he had ingested 5 berries or more then he could have severe diarrhea and throwing up and might have to be hospitlized from the dehydration... and even possibly bleed from his GI tract! GOOD LORD! 5 little berries will cause that??? Now that is when the real freaking out began. The lady then told me that I had 1 hour to get the Charcoal in him so it would stabilize the poison..... and she also told me that most retail pharmacies did not carry it... only speciality pharmacies did. And it just so happened to be 5:30 on a Saturday, so all the "speciality" pharmacies were closed. So, I called Lisa, all my friends, all my friends parents, the pharmacies around town (Garner and Clayton).... NO ACTIVATED CHARCOAL anywhere! Lisa and Michelle were looking on the Internet to see if they could find somewhere where I didn't call who had it... thank you very much for all the help by the way!!!

Anyway, to make a long story short, the poison control lady (Patty) told me that either I could take him to the emergency room, or just wait it out because we don't know how many he actually swallowed! So I chose to wait it out. Thankfully, Braxton must have not swallowed any because he was fine! They say that the berries are very bitter, so most of the time the kids will spit them out because of the taste. BUT, in the mean time, I went out and bought Activated Charcoal Powder at the Medicap Pharmacy in Garner this week. $18.00 for a little bottle, but priceless to have for my sanity!

My working men....

Here they are! Working men!

Scott has really been trying to split time between the two of them on the skidsteer or working, because sometimes it is easier to take the bigger one of the two... but now that he has started taking Braxton more, Braxton wants to go more!!!

It is so cute, when Braxton sees daddy putting his boots on and his jacket to go outside to work.... well there goes Braxton running up to Scott with his arms up in the air so Scott will pick him up to go with him.

Today, Scott was working around the house. Well, when he drove the skidsteer over to see us, Braxton ran straight up to Scott. He stood on the bucket and just couldn't wait for Scott to pick him up to put him in the skidsteer. Well this didn't make Sawyer very happy because he usually is the one that gets to go. So here goes Sawyer trotting over to the skidsteer, telling Scott to take him too. Scott just looked at me... and I said, "Well, can you handle them both???" I couldn't have handled one of them looking at Scott with a sad face, so I am so glad that Scott said he could work with both of them. And here they are!!!! I don't know what Scott is going to do with a 3rd boy if we have one!!!! I don't think there will be room for him!
